What I'm doing now

(Inspired by Derek Sivers)

creative facilitator\workshops

I've got a few focus groups coming up with the University of Suffolk where I'll be using creative activities to support academic research into belonging at work. It's an interesting way use creative facilitation and the first sessions have been good - lots of learning all round!

newsletter writer\Here & Now People

I send out a newsletter every month for my company Here & Now People. You can read the latest newsletter online and it contains a sign up link if you like it. :-) You'll find details of upcoming classes and shows, and opportunities for professional development with the power of improv.

author\academic paper

I've been running stakeholder workshops called Challenge Labs for the University of Suffolk for a while and now I'm co-authoring a paper with Valerie Gladwell from the Institute of Health & Wellbeing on the principles and benefits of using a network model of meeting.

trainer\Here & Now People

I'm excited about some professional development training that I'll be delivering in the next month. I've got some work sharing my approach to Creative Facilitaiton, a project to integrate improvisation with innovation and design, and a session on 'Putting on a performance'. I'm also working on a new learning offering with Katy Schutte and Belina Raffy using improv and biomimicry.

host\Social Notworking

I have teamed up with a friend Malcolm Beer to run a series of 'notworking' events. The simple idea is to meet new people, have more fun and connect beyond the work. We had our first on in March around the theme of 'More Joy' and as simple road test it worked well. People seem to value 90 minutes of alternative activities, games and discussion before having a general chat. The next one is 18 April and you can get tickets here.

performer\improvisation

I'm putting on a show for this style of improv in Ipswich on 16 May and you can get tickets here. In March I joined a line up of some of the UK's best at Hoopla, and I'm part of an ensemble in London that plays a theatrical form of improvisation that can be joyful, dramatic, silly and fun. We've been booked to play at improfestival Karlsruhe in August.

human\into the woods

There's an ancient wood on my way to my studio at Old Jet called 'Staverton Park'. It's the only bit of ancient woodland left in Suffolk and has gnarly ancient oaks and giant holly trees. I often stop there for a walk among the trees, practice qi gong or listen to the Waking Up app.
