Speaking to audiences

I love engaging an audience and putting ideas in motion.

I regularly deliver talks on the power of improvisation and story, sharing fresh insights and challenging received wisdom.

I'll work closely with you to create a message and tone that is just right for your audience.

Main keynote:

Breaking taboos to adapt, improvise and overcome

We want good things to happen. So we develop plans to make them happen. But somehow the reality is different. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. So what do we do?

We 'Adapt, improvise and overcome' as the US Marines do. That's the hope but often we get stuck implementing plan that aren't working, repeating lines from the past.

Adapt. Check. Overcome. Check. Improvise. Do we have to?

Contrary to the popular view, improvisation is not just for comedy or theatre, or worse, the last resort of the unprepared amateur.

It's a super human power that enables us to combine knowledge and expertise with present-moment awareness, co-creative solutions and fluent decision-making. Oh, and it makes teamwork more playful, productive and rewarding.

So why do we think it's not for us? Why is improvising taboo?

In this talk I'll reclaim the value of improvising in the workplace - bringing to life the principles and skills improvisers use to step boldly into the unknown.
